From the recovery of the office and workshop building of a former cement factory, Gabanon was born, a place to stay, relax, taste local products, practice sports and explore the area.

The building dates back to the early 1900s, as the headquarters of the Fratelli Palli, Caroni and Deaglio lime and cement factory. In 1957, the factory came under the control of Cementi Alta Italia and in 1965, with the decommissioning of the obsolete plants, production was reduced to grinding and bagging only. In 1979, the plant was sold to Cementi Buzzi, which decided to stop production and set up a distribution centre active until 1995.

Finally, in 2018, Buzzi Unicem, together with the Turin Polytechnic and Associazione Il Cemento, starts a selective demolition plan of the plant, in order to preserve the industrial memory, preserving some historical buildings.

In 2021, CAI - Conversione Area Industriale Srl will take over the complex to launch an urban regeneration project and convert it into a tourist-receptive area.

Today, thanks to this intervention, the Gabanon project enhances the existing heritage, offering hospitality, sport and culture in a unique context, bearing witness to an important industrial history.
